My son Atticus has autism as most of you know, and we have been taking himm to an equestrian therapy program called Milestones and they profiled them on a local TV news program.
Of course Buddy got a lot of air-time because he is so photogenic…
I had a friend ask me to do a personality test (no, they weren’t trying to find out it I actually have one) and i found the results to be pretty interesting.
It said that I was The Humanitarian
You perceive the world with particular attention to humanity. You focus on what’s in front of you (the foreground) and how that fits into the larger picture. You are also particularly drawn towards the shapes around you. Because of the value you place on humanity, you tend to seek out other people and get energized by being around others. You like to deal directly with whatever comes your way without dealing with speculating possibilities or outcomes you can’t control. You are in tune with all that is around you and understand your life as part of a larger whole. You prefer a structured environment within which to live and you like things to be predictable.
On the last day of summer vacation for the girls we took them to Kings Island, an amusement/theme park in Mason (north of Cincy). It was the first time that I have been there since we moved back to the area. It has really changed and mostly for the better. The Beast is still the best ride there, and Son of the Beast is a mother too! † Invertigo was an incredible ride, but the icing of the day was the first ride Savannah and I took. It’s called, very appropriately, the Slingshot. You are buckled into this round cage and then slingshot vertically to about 300′. Then you are pulled back down, not by gravity, but by the springs that stopped your verticle ascent. Then you bounce around for about 5 minutes until they let you down. Savannah didn’t really like it, although she was the one that wanted to go on it in the first place. She said “I’m sticking to rides that have tracks from now on!” LOL
To be honest, it was an adrenaline rush for me too!
Here are some pictures that I forgot to post last July when we went to Lake Cumberland for the 4th of July weekend.
Atticus decided that he wanted to go fishin’ and the girls tried to ski again. Alsatia can get up pretty easily, but Savannah still has trouble. Maybe next year.
This came out a couple years ago and I haven’t really kept up with any new releases – I mean “Songs You Know by Heart” is all you really need to know, right? Well Samantha and I went to his concert this year at Riverbend and he played a lot of songs I didn’t know by heart and a few of them were really great. So the next morning I opened up iTunes and found them on that album.
Jimmy has gone a little more country than I like, but then again I think that country music has gone a little Jimmy. Country music has really changed it’s sound and there are a lot of artists that sound like JB’s style if you were to add a steel drum to the background. Ironically, Jimmy tried to get his start in Nashville and was spurned. Cincinnati is the epicenter of the whole “parrothead” movement and where those fanatics boosted him into the mainstream and stardom.
I have always wanted to see him in concert but something always got in the way. Not this year, and am I glad.
